Cancer Risk Assessment & Genetic Counseling

With Increased application of genetic testing and genomic –based healthcare, it is the goal of
the Windsong Breast Care Hereditary Cancer Risk Assessment program to ensure adequate
preparation of patients for making decisions regarding hereditary cancer risk testing,
potential health issues, cancer screening, and risk reducing options. Our program benefits the
current and future patients of Windsong Breast Care with a new program concentrating on
hereditary risk assessment , genetic testing, and screening plans based on individualized risk
assessment.

Laura Fisher, MS, CGC

Laura Fisher, MS, CGC is a board certified genetic counselor by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.

Ms. Fisher is a Western New York native who is dedicated to providing cancer genetic counseling to patients. One of her primary goals is to educate , provide risk assessment, and explain genetic test results to high risk screening patients, in addition to patients with a current cancer diagnosis. Ms. Fisher serves as treasurer of the New York State Genetic Counselor Licensure Task Force. In addition to being a regional lecturer, she teaches first year medical students at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and was nominated for an award in teaching excellence. Ms Fisher received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Geneseo and received her master’s degree in genetic Counseling from Boston University. Prior to joining Windsong , she provided genetic counseling to patients at Womens and Childrens Hospital of Buffalo.
